Riged mounting a motor??

Anyone have any reason not to rigged mount a motor??
Why do all the sleds have rubber mounts.. Seems to me that better power transfer and longer belt life might be good.. If its the vibration,, I like big bore two strokes, so why not??
 
Steve at B's Outback did a rigid mount on one of his hawks but I dont' think he got it running for the snow yet though.
I've been using one of the motor stabilizer mount things that Sledr2 makes the past few seasons and it seems to work great. It bolts on the motor and on the frame to help stabilize motor movement due to those rubber jobs. It also helps with the belt wear and to transfer more direct power. It was put on mainly because one of the mounting bolts on the engine kept cracking the engine block where it screwed in from the slight twisitng or movement of the engine over and over as it was run. Hope that all made sense...anyway, haven't had a problem since the mount was put on.
I would guys the drawback to a solid mount is more vibration and possible hawk pieces coming apart over time? I think a solid mount seems better though.

The stripping out or breaking of the liquid engined Hawks mounting holes on the block obviously is a long term beyond AD Boivins test period.

First reported on the 600HO's when folks opted for rebored Polaris P85 primary clutches, the slightest off center and bam.

Secondly from the sheer torque of 8Hunnert, combine that with factory missalinement, frame rails not being square, or a worn belt, it's only a matter of waiting.

I assume it was very short term if originally solid mounted, since eventually all the fan ridgid mounting plates crack, easily replaced in house.

Inspect yours!

Notice the factory REV 440 plate, solid mounted and large dampening bushings, maybe we should try to utilize along with a stabilizer of some sort. Would need to be widened, cut/welded, duplicated to the Hawk's frame width.

Interesting thoughts.. New motor plates are very easy to make..
Ive never ridden or seen a high preformance bike with a rubber mounted motor..
it would be easy enough to develop some high durometer urethane pads that the motor sat on/ threw bolted..Im thinking that my be the ticket...
Tony do you have the 440 rev plate?? how about a photo??
