sunday was swwweeetttt!!!! weather was ideal for a mountain ride, love the way the clouds roll over the ridge. snow was perfect, about a foot and a half of fresh on the top, with a few new during the day. could actually see the tooth from the horn, saw a new bowl from up there, will check it out next time. sliding down to the north side was great, got down in one of the drains and it was soooo deep my sled submarined and tried to roll but rode it out, love the taste of fresh pow! headed for the forbidden zone, highmark hit the face and went WAY up, reminded me of the turbo! his coming down was great, coming over some of the 3 foot boulders that are building up looked like quite the adventure. headed up to ghostrider, was a snowboulder up there the size of a house
then headed up to no cigar to top over the ridge. talk about one scary
climb over the top, wind was howling, snow was blowing up the mountain!!! highmark of course blows over the top no problem, gotta give cudos to the xp, those things sure can climb. i'm up next, head up, about half way up you have to turn a little to the left. on the turn i hit a small hump, got some air and came down too much on the left side and scrubbed too much speed, get to the last 40 feet and she starts to grind. figured i'm gonna keep on churning and hopefully make it to the top. wishfull thinking, buried it, steep as crap and windblown!!! about an inch of ice on the top. i wanted to dig a ledge and get turned around the sane way
highmark on the other hand decided we could just turn the sled and head back down. man that was hairy!!!! had to stomp the snow around the sled just to break through the ice to spin it. got the nose pointing somewhat downhill, took a little encouragement from highmark to get me ready to head back down, was still wanting my ledge
couldn't even see the bottom anymore, reminded me of the day king kat rolled into the trees!!! put my panties away and popped the throttle
on my way i went. got back down to the bottom, took a couple of minutes, dried my goggles and caught my breath. got set up and headed back to the top, got a good turn in the middle this time and crossed over the new tracks and hit the top on a fresh line riding one ski up over the top
wasn't soo bad the second time, knowing you can turn out and not end up in the trees makes it a little less intimidating. left the cigar there so if anyone wants it... headed down to the gravel pit and back to civilization. glad to still be alive and my sled in one piece
got some good pics, was well worth the price of admission!
