when I saw that MHorse was selling their new wide ski to the public, I ordered one up and two days was here in Montana.
My pal had been riding one for a month or so on his yam 013 kit, but I wanted to see what difference it would make on my home build. I had been running several versions of Simmons skiis with center keel and 10" wide.
After a good bit of riding the new ski on my 136 wr I found:
higher ride height of ski in hard or powder puts more weight on the back of my track so better traction in all conditions, just what I was hoping, Works way better.
The newer more solid feel almost all the time better ride height made me know I still have to find stiffer front fork springs, thought I was there on fork spring but no I need more , on real steep down hills seeing that the new wide ski is not sinking, my fork springs need to be stiffer.
rode a couple of days in harder snow in blinding snow storm so Dan and I rode tight trees going places we only walk in archery season. That new wide ski is stable, creep forward, look, turn and gas it to next opening just sitting on the bike, old narrow ski more dirt bike like catch it going one way or the other, different and kind of nice.
Takes less power to go up continous long side hill cuts that the old ski, just not as much drag, tried that on back to back days climbing the same side hill, all gooder now.
Best $400 spent so far on snow bike improvement. Thanks MH, now got to buy another one.
