Riding Sandpoint Preist Lake Areas -Where

Finally have some time off between Christmas and New Years and looking at making a trip south for 4 or 5 days. I've summer vacationed in the area for years, been skiing a few times but never riding. I'll have the wife and a few kids in tow so I'm looking for some groomed trails and low key family friendly riding areas. What I need are some maps of the area showing groomed trails and staging areas and some recomendations from the locals!

Thanks

you can google priest lake or look up hills resort and there is a link to trail maps. if you are interested in another area, roman nose, i have a cabin that will be for rent this winter. if you need more info pm me. thanks

The West side of Priest has a great trail system...very rated G. Like said above, if you search Priest Lake you will find a online trail map.

I think the best trail riding in North Idaho is right behind Coeur d' Alene (Bunko, Fernan or 4th of July). Tons of trails and is always well groomed. I can't always say the same about Priest. The CDA's also have a couple "by sled only" restaurants (Happy Hermit and Cascade Inn). Nice area to take the family.

I would vote for Roman Nose. There are multiple trails into the lake to choose from, and there are some decently groomed routes. when you get to the lake you have a little bit of everything from boondocking to some good climbs to play on too. I've taken my GF in there twice and she made it with no problem. (she was on a 550 and it was the first 2 trips she'd ever had on a sled)

Just wondering if anyone has some maps (scanned are ok) showing the trails around CDA. Be much approciated so we can start making our arrangments as where best to stay dine etc.

Thanks

I've never seen the actual Map online?!? There is three main entrances to the trails (there is more but these are easiest). I've copied the coordinates from Google Earth of the different parking lots. This will at least give you an idea where they are in relation to Coeur d' Alene (ton of places to stay and eat!).

4th of July: Very easy to get to! Right off of I-90 around 13 miles from CDA.
47°37'16.69"N
116°31'12.00"W

Fernan: Directly behind CDA. The road up the mountain can be crappy and takes around 15 minutes from CDA. Once your there...great access point!
47°44'7.14"N
116°36'21.83"W

Bunco: This is North of CDA. Great parking lot and easy road, but if snow level are low, it can make for a rough couple miles up the mountain. Plus it is at least 20 miles from CDA.
47°54'29.41"N
47°54'29.41"N

All the dealerships will have trail maps or post here before you arrive and I bet someone will be willing to show your crew around.
