New to the Billings area and looking for people to ride with in the Big Horns, Cooke, & Bozeman areas. I have a 13 pro 163, enclosed trailer, avy bag & beacon. Are there any snowmobile clubs in the Sheridan/Billings area?

Thanks:present:

We drive over from Bismarck usually a minimum of 4 times per year. We are always looking for people to ride with as sometimes others back out, etc. You know how that goes. It's a lot safer with 3-4 vs. 2 out in the backcountry.

Ride the Big Horns whenever there is good or new snow. Usually every weekend or sometimes during the week.

I will be home around Christmas and new years for a month and am always ready to ride. There are always people around Sheridan that want to ride. I have met some good people on this site. The snowmobile club in Sheridan is the Bighorn Snowmads.

Thanks for the info, guys. I hear the Big Horns are tough to beat. Is it better to ride on the Lovell side or the Sheridan side? Does one or the other seem to get better/more snow?

Im guessing you mean the Lovell side. I would say the lovell side gets more. Most people park at burgess or along 14 and ride west or north. Some do ride south or east but not near as many. There is a lot of area up there. They are hard to beat if they get good snow!

Might be going to the Horns this weekend is it open to ride with the Gov. shut down and such? I don't have a WY sticker, when do the 13-14 stickers become available?

Go to the bighorn sticky thread someone just asked that question. Technically not suppose to ride till the 15th but a road ride wouldn't hurt. The mountain is open but I don't think the forest service is working right now.

It opens on the 15th of Nov until then you are limited to 100-200 yards off the road (can't remember). It is just due to hunting seasons I believe, they don't mind you riding as long as there is enough snow. Stickers are normally at the dealers 1st part of Nov.

Edit: You beat me Shelby! lol

Thanks so much for the info. If I come in on the Sheridan side are there parking areas to unload and ride trails or do you go to Bear Lodge?

Like Shelby said, I will be home during Christmas and New Years for a month and would love to ride with some new people while I am home! Probably be riding quite a bit during that time! PM. me if you are interested!!

Thanks,

Ryan

The snomads generally leave from the arrowhead lodge most every saturday between 9-10. i was up at woodchuck warming hut cutting wood with the club and you could ride the red grade road, but i would never think about going off it was only about knee deep there. just enough to sucker you in to bending a arm.
