hey guys/gals. my gf and i are thinking about moving for her job in a year or so, and she may have the chance to live in either boise or twin falls, along with other places around the country but chose those 2 thinking we would still be near mountain sledding. where and how far is any riding grounds from these 2 places?

I would choose Boise

There is some incredible riding between 1.5 and 2.5 hours from Boise. I live close to this location and get in 25-35 rides each year. The snow was incredible this season!! Twin Falls is kind of in the desert, so you will have to travel farther from there to get to good sledding. Probably the closest to Twin is to head east. I make a trip or two to eastern Idaho each year and have found some great places there too. The downside for me is that it's a 5 hour drive from Boise to go there, so that is why i don't go often.

If you do end up living in Boise, shoot me a PM. I know some areas around here and am always looking to get in some riding right after a good "dumping" of snow :)

Cheers!

Twin Falls has great riding 30 minutes to the south, or within two hours to the north or east.

Boise has epic world class riding almost 360* of direction right at 3 hours on the outside. Great options at about 1 hour travel for a couple places. Obviously it depends on the conditions of the day but generally SW Idaho is a great sledding location to live and play. Lot's of choices and the better snow conditions spread out the masses and adds that much more quality to the experience.

The city sucks..the area doesn't

primo riding

south to the owyee mtns (1 to 3 hours)
west to eastern oregon and the elkhorns or eagle caps (2 to 3 hours)
north to mccall (2 to 3 hours)
east to the trinities or idaho city areas (45 minutes to 3 hours)

then about thirty other misc prime spots in between or around any of those locals
