hey guys i am planning to go to the mission/abbotsford area this winter with a buddy and am wondering if there is any places near by to ride?

I am out in Maple Ridge, and there is a little bit of riding around, you can go up towards hemlock mountain, there is a little riding back there, as well as some more that I have not found the turn off yet that was apparently pretty good, similar area, but its really wet snow. There is also some riding up in Chilliwack valley, on the backside of chem mountain. I have never ridden these spots personally, but spent the season talking to people around my area, and getting directions for this season when I have my sled at home. Good luck! there is not a whole lot of people that seem to ride these areas, there could be a reason for that, but you don't know until you try it yourself I guess.

Cheam is great for an afternoon, with the right conditions you can make the peak (not for the faint hearted). Access from Chipmunk creek road.

I’ve heard of some riding back in Skagit Valley. Ain’t never been there, they tell me lots of side hilling.

Sylvester Road past Mission has some riding in the right conditions, but your competing with the four wheelers to the 24” deep mark.

Other than that Coquhalla is about your best bet.

borden creek in chilliwack, but i suggest you find a tour guide! not easy to find/get to the actuall hills. but once your in there is pretty good. other than that 10k or henning is your best bet, cheam is good when the snow is bottomless!

How far are you willing to drive? I'm in Kelowna, about 4 hours over the Coquihalla from where you are. Some awesome bowls and meadows and groomed trails in the Graystokes area about 30 minutes outside of town. I'd be happy to take you out sometime. :beer;

At Abbotsford you are about a 2.5 hour drive to Pemberton. Everything you could ever want is there. Or you can go to the Coquihalla summit there is some decent riding there as well.

You could try Jones Lake. It's about half way between Chilliwack and Hope off the #1. Easier FSR access but a maze of roads makes it difficult to find the one that gets to the tree line.

Hey bud all the options are good! Valley doesn't have a very big sled community so if you can get good snow YOU WILL hardly see anyone.
cheers have a good trip the pass is nice just past the toll both and up to the summit is good sledding. good climbing and some nice cournes drops!

i live in chilliwack and ride every weekend, weather i go to mount chem or i drive hour and a half to boston bar, let me know when u come up, what do u ride

hey jiles03, how is the riding on chem honestly? I have heard from some that it is good riding, others that it isnt, whats your honest opinion? I was trying to make it up last year, but never did so I am hoping to check it out this year, do you just go up the chilliwack valley road until you hit snow?

There is riding on the both sides of Chilliwack Lake road. You can either turn off just before the fish hatchery on the south side of the road. It is mostly tree riding. On the north side of the Highway you turn off at Chipmunk Creek, you drive up the logging road for while until you hit snow, there is a trail that turns into a steep chute, once up and over there is a great view of the Valley and not bad riding but there are some drop offs that I would not want to go over. Both areas a small but good if you just want to get out for a couple of hours.

If you want the best riding "in the world", then go up the sea to sky corridor near Whistler!

The Whistler area is for sure one of the best but the weather can be a problem and it is a little far as compared to the coquihalla.

The Chilliwack area is small but OK and you need to have someone that knows the area to really enjoy it like most areas I guess. It is also a little small.

The Coquihalla is about 1.5 hours from Abbotsford and now there is no toll at the summit so I would say it is probably your best bet. Before Christmas you would probably want to go to Henning mountain but after Christmas 10K is a larger area and has more variety IMO.
