Riding Jumbo Glacier ???

Does anyone know if there is an area near Jumbo Glacier that you can ride? Or have the enviromentalists outlawed all riding up there?

I was doing some reading and it looks like there is access up to the glaciers via an old logging mill that has long been closed down. The Canadian ski team trains up there in summer. Check out the link below to the proposed ski resort. Specifically check out the pictures and the massive area the glaciers take up! Lots of room for everybody to enjoy Jumbo.

It sure would be nice to plan a camping/sledding trip up there in the middle of July or August.

It doesn't sound like environmentalists, just NIMBY's. I have to agree with them, a sleepy fricken town, and they want to build a European style resort?

I would say no to that one, put it some place else, but not in my back yard.. If I lived there.

On another note, the riding there looks really good!

Dont think they will ever get a ski resort up there with NHL superstars and coffee manufacturers backing them...

What about sledding though? I cant see the parking lot at the end of Jumbo's access road turning into another Revy in the middle of summer....
What if the BC Gov sold passes on-line to sledders during the summer for the truly hard core? Allowing say a max of 20 sleds a weekend during the summer?
The BC Gov allows Heli-Sledding in Pemberton on the glaciers.

Its funny how the Canadian ski team can be up there in the summer months training, and with a groomer! (I saw groomed runs in one of those Jumbo's pics) however the environmentalists idea of 'Sharing their' environment doesnt include responsible sledders who would also like to enjoy this area.

A sleepy town, not likely, its already too late, Invermere is Calgary west. But its funny that "they" say the locals have a problem with a resort being constructed, but no one seemed to have a problem with the 4 or 5 massive condo units that have been and are being biult on the waterfront on marshland. But hey scott neidermeyer says its bad so we better go with it. Haha
