Riding in redding, burney falls area?

I am moving to the burney falls, fall river area for a job and I'm trying to get some info on riding in the area. Anybody have any info on the snow conditions and riding once the snow starts falling?

The area has same very good riding. The season starts around the end of Nov and last till the end of Apr. Let us know when your moving and we/I can gave u more infor.

Im up there all the time (usually once a week, Mcarthur area) Beautiful country up there, and yeah theres some good riding as well!

I was out at burney falls yesterday. I could not help but think that burney mountain would be a great ride... Is burney mtn ope to riding? it seems like there are a lot of nice wide open areas.

AC, when you get to cali you NEED to ride with silvertip! You'll see a lot of country that you'd have never known was there without him.

I'm driving down there this weekend to check out the area and figure out exactly where I'm going to be moving. Me and my girlfriend will be living in my fifth wheel so the good thing is I've got options. Going to get some clutch work done on my sled this week I've been watching thunderstruck and slednecks non stop cant wait to see some snow hit the mountains!!!!!!:D

riding areas

there is also Mt Shasta ,Mcloud-pilgrim creek sno park, ash pan sno park all about an hour drive from Burney ,Fall River area pm me when you get settled and we will hook up.Later

If you want the more higher elevations, you probably want to go to the Eddies area. From Redding you could either go north to Mt Shasta and west or come in from Trinity lake area and go east. From Redding its about the same either way. I live in Redding and there are a couple of us that ride pretty often. The ashpan/morgan summit areas are lower elevation so they set up snow wise sooner. They are more for the trail type riding with a little off trail.

Ever been up to south fork mnt in the winter time? If so, how bad is the access?

this may be a dumb question but when you say Eddies area do you mean mt eddy also where do you park the trucks I have been looking at the state snow-park page and I cant find any info on anything up north.

Yes- Mt Eddy and the mountains around it. From castlecrags north. As far as parking- there isn't a snopark in that area. There are several stagging areas but basicly you just drive up until you can't drive no more and let out.
The mountains are between I-5 and hwy 3 north of trinity lake. Hwy 3 is closed north of trinity lake during the winter so you drive up and take a side road east.

We will have to hook up and show you around this winter- get to know Kale on here- he lives in mt shasta and knows the eddies pretty well. The eddies aren't that good during parts of the year due to rain making washouts along the roads sleding in but they tend to have the most snow and better snow early and late. they are also less crowded and better with the large bowls and such.

It's dumped in the mountains here in Idaho the last week there's 42 inches up where I ride here. I' m going up on friday to get a feel for my new sled to see if I need to shave the weights:D:D:D
