I know you need training for ohv, does this apply to snowmobiles as well?? If so where can i find info and is there any online courses I can take?? do I need Oregon registration or will they honor Colorado tags?? will be in Eugene area and riding around Hoodoo, Batchelor, and Willamette Pass. Any info would be great!! THANKS:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap

I believe all you need is a snow park permit???

Unless you have riders under the age of 16. They would need a certificate.

Any of the 3 areas would be sufficient to ride. I wouldn't overlook Diamond Lake to Crater Lake for a day run if the weather is good. That is pretty spectacular on a clear day.

Thanks for the info. Will have one son under the age of 16, how do we get him "certified" to ride. :face-icon-small-con I grew up in Oregon, didn't seem to have all these regulations when i was living there. I guess the government is just trying to keep us safe....Just kidding:face-icon-small-ton

It might depending on timing and location. There are folks that offer cert classes at places like Diamond Lake so you can get them done while you are there and then be off.

Here you go!

http://www.oregon.gov/odot/dmv/pages/vehicle/snowmobile.aspx

Out-of-state residents whose home state does not require snowmobile registration may purchase a snowmobile permit to operate their unregistered snowmobile in Oregon.

Snowmobile permits are valid for up to 60 days.

The fee for a snowmobile permit is $7, regardless of the number of days for which it is issued (1 - 60 days).

To apply, you must provide DMV with a request that includes:
Your name;
Your address;
The year, make, body style, and vehicle or product identification number of your snowmobile;
Your state of residence;
Desired permit duration up to 60 days (may be issued in advance, but must be within 60 consecutive days); and
Payment (check made out to "Oregon DMV" or money order).
You may submit your request in the form of a letter, with your permit fee payment, in person at a DMV office or by mail.

If you have questions or need more information, please contact DMV.
