Riding in Great Falls, MT

i was just looking at a job in great falls mt and having never been there myself I was wondering if there's anywhere to ride around there close by or how far do you have to travel for good hill climbing.

Ive been wondering the same thing sort of. I think Kings Hill / Little Belts is around there.

Or you can try Copper Creek bowls near Lincoln for more of a challenge.:)

King's Hill is about 65 miles and Copper Creek is 85 miles. The best climbing is at Copper Creek and the best trail riding at King's Hill. If you watch some of the older Thunderstruck videos there are a few clips of riding at "the bowls'' which is what the locals call Copper Creek.

Great Falls has some great riding. To the east, you have Kings Hill (good trail riding, no big hills). To the west you have Lincoln MT which has it all if you know where to go. There is good riding west of Choteau up by the ski hill (if you know where to go, some big bowls there). Further north you have SKyland which is fun, big area. Great riding all around really.

Drop me a line if you ever get in the area, ill show you around a bit.

The Crazies are still ridable aren't they??

The crazies do still have good riding. I haven't been riding on the northern end, but there seems to be a loyal following. Not sure how far this is from GF. Cottonwood and Tresspass Creek both offer great riding, they are located on the western side near Clyde Park.

there are some big bowls up north by choteau where i live and ride. they are up by Teton Pass ski area and there is some sweet stuff back there if ya know where to go. no trail riding...all back country and climbing! then like every one else has said there is lincoln and King's Hill...and Skyland by East Glacier is sweet too!

Also, you are close ot the capital of the world.... West Yellowstone, and probubly the best place to go riding in the wrold, cooke city.
:beer;:beer;:beer;Welcome to MT:beer;:beer;:beer;

No offense bud but Great Falls in no where near West Yellowstone unless we're talking close as in Northwestern United State close.

I'd say Kings Hill or Choteau is your best bet for this early in the season. I wouldn't bank on Lincoln. I used to live there and early season riding in the bowls isn't pretty.

The year I was in Helena, I rode Kings Hill. It was an okay area. Lincoln is probably a better choice, as is the stuff up near Kalispell if you don't mind the drive. Otherwise it's at least five hours down to West Yellowstone.
