Riding Gear ?

So i am looking at upgrading our riding gear for my girlfriend and myself. My questions are when it comes to Klim gear, what is everybody using as far as the models of jackets and bibs/pants, gloves, boots etc. We will be riding in and around the sierra/tahoe area. We are not real aggressive riders but we still will be doing alot of offtrail riding in the trees and meadows.

Just not sure what the differences are with the different Klim gear. From what I have determined alot of the differences are with the insulation and outter layering. We are looking for some good quality gear but we want to make sure that we are buying the right stuff for what we do.

Thanks for any help.

I can maybe give you some insight into the Klim gear for women...

I ride mostly off-trail, but I also do some filming and photography, and so far Klim is the only gear that keeps me warm and totally dry when my butt is parked in a snowbank holding my camera, and breathes enough for aggressive riding.

I wear the uninsulated gear with layers, so I can adjust acording to the weather.

I wear the men's Freeride pant. Klim has just made an uninsulated bib for women, but with no drop seat... Not very convenient when nature calls.

Last year I wore the women's Allure jacket, which I took the insulation out of. This year they made an uninsulated women's jacket, so I'll be getting one of those. I got to test it out this year, and it's great! They added a few more vents, and a more feminine fit.

For layering I wear a thin thermal layer on top and bottom, and either the Klim Sundance jacket or fleece on top depending on how cold it is. My bottom layers are similar except the Sundance pant doesn't fit over or under my kneepads, so I wear a thin wool layer instead. The Sundance gear is fantastic! It is really warm and breathable, and dries quickly if you get wet from sweat.

I absolutely love the Klim Inversion gloves, but they do get wet if you need to dig at all. I carry a pair of heavier gloves just in case, but have yet to use them. I just keep my spare Inversions under my hood, and that way I always have a warm, dry pair on hand.

Klim makes a great boot as well, although no women's sizing. The closest boot to my size (still about 3 sizes too big) is the Adrenaline GTX. I was always warm and dry, but a little worried about my ankles turning, so I now wear HMK.

Hope this helps with your GF's gear. I don't have much experience with the men's, but my BF wears similar gear except he wears the Valdez parka and Radium GTX boot.

My wife refuses to wear bibs because of that very issue.

I switched to Klim last season and I'm so glad I did....I ended up purchasing and wearing damn near everything Klim by the end of the season....I'm a full convert.....I like uninsulated so I can layer and adjust as needed (I do this for skiing also)....here is my set up.

Up Top:
Wool baselayer (non Klim)
Everest midlayer jacket
Tomohawk jacket

Bottom:
Klim socks
Adreniline boot....these boots are the SH*T
Wool baselayer (non Klim)
Everest midlayer pant
Free ride pant

I used the Klimate gloves and Hated them....hands got wet and both gloves ripped...(my hands got wet BEFORE they ripped).....not sure if them ripping was a fluke but I trashed them pretty quickly and I'm not particularly hard on my gear.

Good Luck

Have you noticed if the sizes run small in the womens gear? I have read numorous times that the mens gear runs on the small size.
Thanks for all of the info.

I think their sizing chart runs pretty true.

I would normally wear an XS in men's but take a small in the Freeride pant, so guessing the men's runs small. I ordered based on the size chart and it all fit like it should.
