A group of 8 of us are heading out on the 1st and are looking for a place to stay. We have stayed in steamboat in the past. Just wondering if anybody knew of some on-the-mountain lodging. Any info would be great!

No lodging on the mountain unless you k ow someone with a house up there or you plan on staying in the old abandoned shacks a couple of miles before the summit.

It's either Steamboat or Kremmling.

Ride out at Rabbit Ears

You may want to try Latigo Ranch.

http://www.latigotrails.com

They are outside of Kremmeling and easy access from ranch to trail 1A. 20 miles to the top of the pass, but a lot of great places to play along the way and groomed trails.

I am not sure if they allow snowmobing from their property.

They are a pretty green bunch. You can ride out from the property. They have hosted a poker run or two, but I still believe that they cater to twig fairies.

North Park Inn, Walden

The North Park Inn in Walden is good another option. The owners are super snowmobile friendly and they have lots of parking. If you ride Rabbit Ears from the Buff Pass / Grizzly Creek side its a 30 minute drive but an hour to Muddy Creek Lot on Rabbit Ears.

Yep, Bob's is certainly an eyesore. If you stay in Kremmling:

The Allington is awesome. Ask for the sledder discount or the "Best Kept Secret" discount. I confirmed with Vick (the manager) that these were in place and yes they are.

The Rocky Mountain Bar and Grille is the best place to eat, IMO. The Mexican place used to be good but has slidden downhill. There are two bars, no women.

The only non ethanol station is the un-manned station East on HWY 40 as you head out of town towards Granby. Only the 91 is good, the rest is oxygenated junk. It's a 20-25 minute drive to RE.

That's about it.

Check out the Base Camp Cabins in Kremmling!!!! Staying there in like 3 days...

Only 30 minute drive from there to the Muddy Creek lot!

Plus they got little kitchenettes in so you can cook some burgers/brats/chili/whatever you want when you get done riding:)

x2 on the base camp cabins, or you can stay in steamboat so you can go out for dinner when you return from riding!!!!!

looks like we will be staying in steamboat. at least we will have some nightlife! thanks for all the advice everybody, maybe see ya on the mountain!

I stayed there a couple weeks ago and they were nice. Say hi to Kim for me. Make sure she throws in some free shots at the Rocky Mountain Bar for your group. :face-icon-small-hap

Some of us are going to be in coming to Steamboat for the first time around the 7, 8, 9th of Jan. We are curious how far it is to "Steamboat North" and "Steamboat East"? Which has the better snow? We all have lots of experience riding the Snowies and are just looking for some info. Anything would be welcome. Thanks

PJ, do you know for sure if this holy grail still exists? What's the name of the station?
