Rich/Lean Jetting XP

I recently put a higher compression head & can on my sled. It was recommended to shimmer the needle jets up a half position & jet up to a 490 from the 480 stock. I ride at 8500-10500 elevation. Have other made the same mods? I feel like I could stay at 480 and be ok still? Any comments.....

I have a hi comp head and have 1 shim on the needles and 500 mains. Runs good here but I would like to play with leaning it out even more to see. Where you are riding at elevation you should be fine....

I was reading another post on here and some guy are running a 460 at 8000 elevation. That sounds extremely lean to me from what specs say?? I do know from the factory the 800 xp can use some leaning out.... but not that much???

I ran 450s for 1100 km was a little lean at home 2000' light tan, the dealer put them in when I bought it new. I put 470s in when I went to Stewart and I'm glad I did cause it ran really lean out there, not much difference in power and way safer to hold it down longer. Just remember to check your plugs they will tell you what jets to use every modded sled is different I wouldn't trust someones opinion on the internet to jet my sled. The recomendations that came with your head are probobly ritch to cover thier ***.

I bet this would work good from what I am seeing at 5000ft with 500 mains.

After weeks of riding at high elevation I fouled my plugs with the 490 mains and shim in the needle. I went back to stock 480s and took the shims out of the needle tonight to test again. My sled was running extremely rich, this should clean my plugs up and give me better wash too.
