REVY exposed in SKI Magazine

For those interested in the ski area development progress, get the October issue of Ski Mag.

3,031 acres of skiable terraine, Base elevation 1,680' sumit 7,300', 5,620' verticle, 27 trails, 4 lifts, 80% advanced/expert. 120 miles from the closest all weather air port in Kelowna--recommend 4 x 4 rental.

Limited services, not family friendly. Ski does not recommend REVY until more development takes place in the next two years. REVY thinks it will rival Vail and the Canadian gov't wants to develope ski areas to compete with Colorado.:D

I'll bet the developers will have a hard time raising investor cash--and at $60/barrel it's not coming from the middle east:rolleyes:

The hill was just bought out by the Gaglardi family from Vancouver. The main american interest lost his financial backing recently and had to sell out.The Gaglardi's are stiffing most of the local contractors involved with the development, including me. The developement doubled it's skiable terrain this summer and will offer unparralled skiing, but the on hill facilities are not developed yet. And with the Gaglardi's involvement, who mainly want the land, the on hill amentities will be slow in coming.

Good. With a shatty review like that maybe will see a few less toqued, puffy jacket wearin', chilly pot toting into the hotel room, Veedub driving skiers taking up all the parking for guys with trailers, around Revy this year!

Sorry to inform you but the touques are here. They're having a hard time finding housing, but they're here. For sledders, it's going to be harder to find hotel rooms, and the prices will go up also. This sleepy little town is changing.

revy was also in snowboard canada this month . it got awsome reveiws ,both on and off the hill .they actauly did a realy good job of the reveiw. It started with how revy was born through to the price spike of housing and land due to the hill . Well worth the read

if you think the toque wearin, dog owning socialist has ever been their target demographic u r an idiot. the dg now is the young family with tons 0' money, they make their money on oil & gas and could care less about social causes. they will however steal your riding area so they can heli/cat ski

I am very familiar with how developers work and how they need to raise big bucks for a venture like this one. Telluride Ski in south central Colorado is in a box canyon with no good access to any major highway or airport. It was on the verge of bankruptcy more than once and it wasn't until the county built an all weather (scary) airport outside of town that the area became a destination resort. The real estate market was very narrow with no affordable housing for resort employees.

Aspen, major destination resort with a full blown town in a valley with lots of variety and an all weather airport. Your can't buy the Aspen old west mystique.

Vail has the advantage of being located on I-70 with an all weather airport just down the road. Where do you think the skiing familly is going to go?
Amenities for mama sells ski tickets and the baby boomers are getting fat and can't handle deep powder chutes or advanced slopes and hang out in the base lodge for their entertainment. The Vail valley has tons of real estate opportunities still available.

If Gaglardi thinks he has another Vail/Aspen/Keystone/Breckenridge/Copper in his pocket, he needs to find a different tailor.

If destination skiers really want a Canadian experience they'll go to Whistler which offers all the above except champagne powder, mild dry temps and blue skies. Lots of verticle though:)

I would bet the Simmons Skis off my REV that REVY will remain a secret for a long time.

BCB -

Vail development is a mixed bag these days. For example East West Partners (Frampton, Madison & crew) just laid off 15 project managers. Although if you look at the list of approvals they went to Town Council with recently, you have to wonder why. Intrawest announced operations layoffs too.

Steamboat only has two projects with financing (Edgemont & One Steamboat Place), and Aspen, Telluride, Crested Butte, Breck & Copper are all pretty much stalled. Aspen has a few in process, but they're on life support.

Ironically East West Partners recently bought Three Sisters MV near Banff with the thoughts of developing it like they did North Lake Tahoe.
This may have a better chance, sooner.

Replicating the Vail Valley while possible - would take years, and years and numerous developers and investment banks.
But, it's been done.

Turning Revy into Vail seems like a bit of a stretch.
Maybe we'll see where Ginn takes Minturn first.

Canadians: be careful what you ask for.
