Reverse work well, 20 miles worth

Due to the high quality gears in the m1100 turbo. I was no longer able to go forward and had to ride my sled in reverse for twenty miles. I am on a three day trip and will have to rent a Yamaha to finish my trip. I am very upset with arctic cat at this time and feel that the extra year warranty is not enough. I will be taking this up with my dealer and hope that cat will cover the belt that was over worked from riding in reverse for twenty miles.

If I were you I'd bust open that chaincase, force it into to forward, reassemble the chaincase, and ride the hell out of it.

We looked in and the gear is stripped clean. If I could get it in forward I would be tearing it up.

Did your sled just pop out of gear or did it happen after you used reverse?

He backed out of the trailer and we ran down the trail. When we stopped the beeper was on and had a vibration. Removed reverse motor and reinstalled and started noon docking and beeper came back on and wouldn't move. Removed motor and had forward again and sent to trailer and no more forward. Backed the rest of the way to the trailer.

I haven't rode mine yet, thinking about not using reverse at all till the update is done next fall after hearing this.

Sorry to hear that, but my dealer told me in december to stop using reverse period. I haven't yet and will not after seeing this, one misshift in this system and the gears are toast.

your correct. DO NOT USE IT. it blows not haveing it but just ride it forward till the fix is out later this year.
i had .5 miles on mine, tried the reverse and bye bye. i still can believe that no one gave er a try at AC.

ughh!!

There are a lot of nice features with the pro-climb chassis/setup....but this is one of many that scare me on purchasing a '13 cat.

Here ya go-

Dear Arctic Cat Snowmobile Dealer,

It has been determined that the Service Bulletins BS201204, BS201205 and BS201206 (see below) concerning the reverse gear shift components does not completely address the root cause of the reverse failures on 2012 ProCross and ProClimb 1100 cc 4-stroke
model snowmobiles.

Service Bulletin BS201204 — 2012 F 1100, XF 1100, and M 1100 Models VIN range: 105986-116385;
Service Bulletin BS201205 — 2012XF 1100 Turbo Models and M 1100
Turbo Models VIN range: 116386-118569;
Service Bulletin BS201206 — 2012 F 1100 Models VIN range: 105809-105985 and 2012 F/XF/M 1100 Models VIN range: 800025-800030.

Effective immediately please discontinue installing Gear Shift Update Kit (p/n0637-361, 0637-362 or 0637-363) until further notice. We will be utilizing these kits in the future with an added replacement shift fork for all 3 kits that will become available soon.

We are sorry for the inconvenience that this has caused; Arctic Cat is diligently working with our supplier to resolve this situation and every effort will be made to expedite these parts to you as soon as possible. It appears that most of the 2012 ProCross and ProClimb 1100 cc 4-stroke models are not affected. If you have customers that have not
experienced any missed shifts, it is expected they would not experience a failure.

A letter is being sent to all registered owners to inform them to discontinue use of the
reverse function on their snowmobile if they have experienced any missed shifts until further notice. The 2012 ProCross/ProClimb 1100 cc 4-stroke snowmobile will perform as designed in forward gear without the reverse function utilized.

Thank you for your cooperation in this very important matter.

Sincerely,
Arctic Cat Sales Inc.

That bulletin has been superseded. The fix wasn't working, dealers have been told not to install any updates in 4 stroke sleds. Customers have gotten a letter telling them not to use reverse, a fix will be out in the fall to upgrade their sleds to 2013 design. When they have the update installed, their warranty will be extended by 1 additional year on top of what they have now.

The letter says not to use reverse if you have had any problems,
it does not say everyone should stop using reverse.

Godd@mn!
Your buddies left you to ride 20mi backwards?
Did you at least turn the skis around? haha
How in the he!! can you even do that?
Sorry about your sled, but that's funny right there!

Impressive determination to ride 20 miles in reverse. I have never been towed yet in my life, and I'm not sure I would ride 20 miles backwards just to keep the record alive! I guess if I was alone and had no choice it's better than walking.
