reverse weirdness

So today I had to put the sled in to reverse and after a few revs the motor started to want to die. Gave it a few more and it bogged down then shut off.
When i went to pull on the handle it felt like there was zero compression for a few pulls then it fired right back up and was fine after that.

Any ideas ???

niko.

was your engine cold? I always let the engine warm up to at least 80 degrees before trying to put it in reverse or it will die.

I second Z Man's quote. Reverse will not work if the engine is not warmed up properly. It will almost instantly die on me when I hit the reverse button if the engine is not warmed up. If that's not the case you may have a short.

IF the engine was warmed up and it still did this i would reset my TPS and take a look at all the wiring i could

the wiring on these sleds should be treated well, do not bend or kink it, also look at areas it may be kinked(hood hinge area, ecu area, tps wire pigtail)

thanks guys, the sled had been running for a while when it happened.
I'm thinking its the wiring as my warmers have again stopped working and I have to run the sled with out the key wiring plugged in.
Could I replace the wiring loom without pulling the motor out?

sounds like you have a short in your handlebar wires somwhere
with the sled running you should open the hood and start unplugging things one at a time for the bar controls(handwarmers, killswitch etc) until the sleds act normal again

once you get an idea of what is causing your problem you can look at the wiring for it and hopefully find the short so ya can get it taped up and fixed

Cheers for that, I couldn't remember a beeping when i bought it.
I think my problem lies further down the wiring loom as the wires to the bars have been looked at and retaped. Will keep looking.
