Reverse on 13 Pro

The other day we were riding and we stopped for a snack and we were getting ready to go and I my buddy was in front of me and so I went to backup and my reverse would not work. I shut off my sled started it back up and it still would not start. Sled was running fine and so I figured I would deal with it once I got back to town.

Rode another few hours we stopped for a break and I was hitting the button to see if it would work. Still broken. My buddy asked me to put something in my tunnel bag and while I was off my sled I heard my motor stop then restart, I got back on and sure enough it was in reverse. The weird part is I had not pushed it for about 3 min before it engaged.

So then I pushed it again and it would not disengage. Then finally I pushed it waited about 30 seconds and then the motor shut off and it restarted.

Now it works fine. Anybody have any ideas? I have ruled out the drive shaft!

How long do you hold the button down?

Could you have had ice in the button?
Was there a temp change in between working and not working...and then working again?

Check wires for rubbing? Checked the connection on the wire harness?

It was maybe in the 20's temp wise. I tried a bunch of different combinations held it down for a couple of seconds, quick push, cupped it with my hand to warm it up, moved the switch so it was not hitting anything, swore at it, told it I was sorry, tried again.

checked harness, seemed fine. All wires seem fine. Now it working though. Could it be the cold?

I haven't had an issue with mine. Ben out in -10 and as warm as 30. Rain and snow and sun.

Not sure what's ailin ya.

We had something similar on my wife's 06 600 back in the day. The button was finicky. If you held it too long or too short, it didn't behave. Most of the time it killed the engine and didn't engage the reverse.

Then it quit doing that and never had another problem.

Nor sure what your weather was like but my 12 last week when we were in Cooke would not go into reverse. Tried everything...button moved like it seemed to even took the button off and tried shorting the wires together and would not work. a few hours later tried it once and it went into reverse and back out once. Then would not do it again the rest of the day. We were in deepwet powder all day so I put it in a garage overnight to dry it out and picked it up the next morning and never had the problem again. Something got wet and froze somewhere...

It might need
Check TPS connector for moisture, reset Throtlle plate sync/base line, TPS voltage, and set throttle cable freeplay

I had a similar issue on my 12 pro. I had washed the sled in the garage including the engine bay. Started the sled afterwards and tried the reverse, it didn't work. Checked harness, even tried eliminating the switch and jumpered out the connector, still didn't work.... Waited till the next day and it worked flawlessly. The only thing I could think was there was some water somewhere causing some issues... Never found it. But still works fine! I hate electric gremlins, so hard to pinpoint.

Now it is working fine. Thanks for all the feedback. It must have been a wet connection. Rode all day on Saturday and it was sunny and warm and I had no issues with it. We will see what happens this weekend.
