revelstoke guide needed

we are coming up to revelstoke feb10 to the 14 and was wondering if anyone would be willing to show us around into boondocking mainly and scenery. we dont really wanna pay to have some one show us around we are fairly good riders so we wouldnt slow someone down to much. the more people would be better and more fun

Good luck.:rolleyes: I put up a similar post for Sicamous or Revy and I'm getting the same response as you. One guy advised me it's well worth getting a guide. I guess Dudes are scared of winding up with some Newb and being responsible for digging him/her out all day. Can't blame them for that I guess. Personally I'd be more than happy to take someone out and show them around for a day. Good Luck :beer;

Just Show up and hook up with someone that knows area
Looking for guild now is useless cause in Feb who knows

Thanks Sofa King. I was thinking of doing exactly that. Bring the GPS so I can at least find my way back if I get ditched. Either way, I went sleddin in Revy...woooohooo:face-icon-small-hap

agreed with SofaKing.

Post this a week before you go there. Try to hook up with people at the warm up shelters or parking lots. If you get a guide on the first day, buy them supper and they probably let you tag allong for the 2nd day.

Join your local sled club. Guys coming from Kelowna every weekend to revy.

I belong to the Kelowna club. I'll throw it out to our guys as to when someone is headed that way. :beer;

I will take peeps riding in Sicamous/Malakawa and possibly Revy (Owlshead, Hunters range, Queest, Blue lake, Eagles pass, Boulder. I ride atleast every sunday. PM me before you come. ride at your own risk. I am not a guide, but I know the mountains here (been riding here 9 years) and have avy courses under my belt and all avy gear. I will take peeps that have avy training and gear, and want to ride (not sit around all day drinking. don't mind drinking but I'm there to ride). if you don't have gear and training, don't even ask!

p.s. I have a 3 stuck rule: I will help you get unstuck 3 times per day, and then you are on your own!!

I "m pretty sure an if I look in my history we talked around the same time last season.
I am pretty sure that I recommended Rene ST.Onge.
There are a lot of places in Revy and Sicamous Where you can get yourself into a lot of trouble if you are not being shown around.
I try to get out every weekend and don't mind showing people around its just that I need to ride with people that I can trust.Last season while guiding a couple of gentleman from Sask. I got stuck slamming through some drifts in a little bit of a scary spot and they actually abandoned me. I will never forgety those two. I usually put on around 4000 miles a season so I do know my way around and I don't really need to be babysat, its just that I have some spinal cord issues ( crushed spinal cord that required taking a disk out of my neck and replacing with titanium plate). I am not very strong and have bad balance but when I get stuck on top or close to it because I have a 205HP Linderman built M1k that can get me in more trouble up there to point that digging out can be a slow process with me.
So if you have patence and like long days give me a PM in advance and we will make plans.I do love to ride till we are out of fuel which is usually late in the night.With the right conditions climbing and boondocking are fun at night.I am fully prepares with GPS, Sat Phone and most importantly a Muff Pot

So either or both give me a PM at least 2-3 weeks in advance and I will take you to the places they don't even talk about.

Cheers,
Dave

Begbie Glacier Revelstoke BC. In one of these pics the snow is in the chute that we climb all year just to the left of the glacier.There is a picture looking down the valley on the Revelstoke townsite. There is a picture of Begbie glacier itself and the old growth forest that you have to side hill through. Its a awe inspiring place that is a must do. Most definetly one of my faves.

Cheers,
Dave

Sounds good Smokin. :beer; Lookin at the pics of where you ride in Revy you may be a bit disappointed with some of our local areas. We get great powder snow but mostly meadow and gentle slope riding. As far as abondoning a stuck partner...not fricken likely!!!!. I spent half my day last year rescuing a sled that a guy's wife's bailed off of after she couldn't make a corner. Never met these people before in my life. Soaked to the bone with sweat and broke my saw by the time we were done. But to me that's part of sleddin. Makin new friends.Thanks and stay in touch :beer;

Sofa King doesn't know where he's going so don't ask him :D;)

See ya soon Sofa:beer;:beer;

Roger is one helpful guy.
Prairiedog are you Curtis?Would love to ride with you guys this year.
Came close last season but Roger had to work. I know where to go for av gas now anyways.

Cheers,
Dave

Nice to know there are people like you out there. I have a handi cap decal on my sled you would think that would be enough without having to beg.
And yes we have got to hook up as I have never snowmobiled in or around Kelowna and would like to give it a try. When you plan on going to Sicamous or Revy give me a little notice and I will show you the good stuff.

Dave
