Revelstoke/Golden Snow Conditions Nov 8

Only 2 feet of snow total at the 2000m sign at Boulder, snow on the trail up to the cabin is thin, have to waterskip cabin creek.

It was snowing while we were there but not accumulating much. As far as i can see they need another 4 or 5 feet and it has just been too warm.

Still likely not enough next week, but you never know. At least 100 sleds on boulder pretending that there was enough snow.... Likely a lot of carnage

As for Golden, we drove into the Quartz parkign lot and you can ride from the lot but according to the golden boys it is nowhere near ready

Anybody else have better luck this weekend? I heard sale was maybe a bit better?

I have some pics but I need somebody to let me know how to get them on here

Cheers,

temps just to low . normal nov percip is 20 out of 30 days as a rule
last year it was cold enough , this year we are still waiting , has been enough percip but not cold enough .
no carnage , just bad gas got a few .

For you guys familiar with both spots, then you might have heard of Chatter Creek, on the Revy side of Golden, down the Donald trail?

The hour drive in might be soupy, but it's some worth it once you get there, and they might have snow?

Anyone gone that way yet?

People usually stay out of that area until spring when the cat ski operation is finished - then they give sledders a chance to track up their tenure. until then it's kind of a no fly zone though.

I was in there from Kanuary to April last season.
They are more than happy to have sledders RIDE there, but just stay in the open areas, which is still a huge chunk of property.

Just wondering if it would be alright to go into this early. I dont think Cat/Heli skiiing has started there yet, so if you got in there, tons of area.

not worth going north of golden yet. was up a ways past chatter yesterday and drove up to 6000' only to find 6" of wet snow. and yes, it is always a good thing to ask the folks at the lodge where would be appropriate for sledding before cruising around.

Sorry, you were up at 6000 feet at Chatter?

Maybe Im wrong, and I didn't start riding last season till 24th of Novemeber, but there was way more snow kicking around than 6 inches:eek:

But that is true, Chatter has way too nice of lodge to pass by anyways.
They run a decent opperation out of there and I would love to stay there sometime. Pretty steep prices

Was up on boulder today 4 or 5 feet of base @ 6500' and a little more than 1' of dry pow on top of that. Snowed hard all day and is gonna snow alot more tonight and tomorrow if the forecast is right. will post pics tomorrow

in hindsight was probably closer to 5000-5500 ft but was still only 6" or so and raining. was well north of chatter. likely a lot more snow above that last couple days as its been snowing in the alpine but still unseasonably warm.

dumped in the mtns yesterday afternoon and has rained hard all day today in town, snowing again for sure. have heard avy bombing at kicking horse throughout the day today, they must have received a bit in the past few days to justify some stabilization.
