rev xp bent lower a arm

hey am i the only one here to pretzel a lower a arm without knowing it until i got off sled and noticed that it had buckled? seems pretty weak to me i havent even rode it hard yet

Hopefuly the A-arms are weaker than those on the REV, you would typically be replacing the nun (crossmember) before a ar would fail.....I'd rather replace an arm...perhaps a purposely engineered weakpoint?

i agree with that but i beat the living shi* out of my 07 and never did any damage aside from snapping a bolt off on rear skid, this damage occurred on trail out, and lets just say to do thAT kind of damage i would hope that i would feel it.... and not from some whoops

well, i'm glad they brought back the PROPER weak point in the front end at least...
and it goes back to even trailing arm days, that they'd 'tweak' at low speeds and on unknown objects for stupidest of reasons.
going thru 2 arms on my ZX in one day was...well annoying to say the least.

i learned last year replacing the front end on the Rev is ... it... sucks. :P

so point is, weaker a-arms are better, and i really hope they dont get too many complaints and beef them up next year...like they did w/ the Revs a year after release.

Be glad you have enough snow to ride on. I heard on another post you couldnt buy just one arm, they are sold in a set. Is that true?

Did you look at the bottom of the ski on that side to look for tell tale evidence of the ski hitting something you did not feel. We have been drilling holes in the back of the lower a-arm (1/8") to create a crumple zone instead of the bone tweaking.
First evryone was whining about the bone bending--so now the a-arm bends and there is whining.

HELLO GUYS---There has to be a crumple area somewhere on the sled !!

Just like a car. That is a fact---at least some remember bending trailing arms--Heck--I bent chrome moly trailing arms and even broke one!!

H20SKE...

Does the rest of the front suspension appear to be straight? Every one I've every crunched was either bent back or up from an impact in the suspension or directly to the arm. Yours appears to be bent down... maybe you just got a crappy arm with a weak point that buckled under load coming off a woop. Like was said before though, check your ski and see if there are any signs of a hard impact.

It looks like your sway bar is too stiff:eek: . The bend looks like it is right by the sway bar mount. Another good reason to always take them out:rolleyes:

That's different looking bend than I would have expected,,, wonder, could there have been a build up of ice above the arm's rear bar such that the arm could not travel upwards, thus bending it like that,,, wild guesses I know, as I can't see much from the picture, but I would not expect a bend like that,,,

hit a rock with my right A-arm last weekend and didnt bent it but it my whole right side got pushed back 4 inches...hope it didnt tweak the bulkhead or anything we pulled it back close to staright still an inch out goin back up this weekend again will see what happens...

looks exacty like mine. I hit a rock, are you sure you didn't hit anything? Mine was the left side. Bent lower arm and broken sway bar connect. Parts should be here Tuesday. A-arm, 4 plastic bushing, 2 bolts, 2 nut, and swaybar connect, $141.76

i hit a rock perty good close to goin over the bars..i just looked it over and everything seems to be good....

1.upon closer inspection, all that appears to have any damage what so ever is the lower a arm.. top appears perfect and bulkhead/forged peice connecting a arm to sled seems perfect also.
2.I am not whining about bending an a arm.. i am glad this is the crumple area on the front end.. it is a easy fix from what i can tell compared to a nun.. and affordable..
3. But i have 250 miles on sled and have not rode it hard yet, no big drops, jumps etc... all i can see is that i caught a whoop on trail too hard to that corner of sled or somehow hit something perfectly? so that i would not notice doing so.or that i just got a weak arm, bad batch of metal?

ps. no ice buildup, no rocks /trees

I twisted something in the front of mine today. The left ski is about 4" back the rivets where the a arm mounts are gone and my door doesn't close properly. Can anyone help me. What's bent? whats it going to cost? Instructions?
