Rev or XP

Getting myself a newer sled this summer and I'm looking for advice. Rev or XP? My buddies with Revs claim they are the best thing ever, dudes with XP's say the same thing. I've got to ride both for short periods and the Rev did seem a little easier to handle. But the XP still had the sway bar connected. Anyways, any opinions would be appreciated. I wouldn't be opposed to dropping a newer engine in a Rev chassis if that's an option. Thanks.

I have been riding my 06 159x for years now test riding all the new sleds ( 09 Dragon - 11 PRO - 09 XP - M8 not sure what year ) of my buddies looking for something that I just had to have. None of these machines I cared for and then earily this year I got to test a 11 XP 154x and really liked it. I ended up getting a 12 XP 163x and couldnt be happier. I rode the 06 the other day and its fine but the 163x2.5 and the E tech along w/ fresh suspension is hard to beat, for me anyway.

I have both sleds, 07 and 08. Both are a blast to ride, easy to maneuver and I don't think you'll go wrong with either one. There are some things you have to do to the clutches to help reduce the heat build up that the stock clutches get. These mods pretty much pay for themselves in one season though with the belts that they save you from having to buy at $150/belt.

I as well own both a 07 rev and a '10 xp and I still have MAD love for the Rev..it will put the beat down on the xp on logging road,BUT if it gets deep and steep the xp is much better flotation (minus the cheesegrader track).
The rev is still a wicked all round sled.

I have an 05 rev and a 10 xp I really like my rev but for all around riding the xp is the ticket. with you starting with a blank slate I would go with the xp in the 10 or newer as stock as you can find or a 06-07 providing updates on the 07 and you will have a great sled either way.

For what its worth the rev is much more of a jump on and inside of 30 mins you feel comfortable and confident type of sled. While the XP in my opinion takes a little longer to reach the same comfort level but once you do its hard to look at anything else.

Hope this helps

I have a 2007 Summit 800 151 with a boss seat, can, DJ clutch kit (new last year) newer XP ski's (new last year) and the sled only has 1000miles on it. Track looks mint and everything is in really good shape still. I baught it last year with about 700 miles on it.

This year we bought my girl friend a 2010 Summit X . . . (I dont want to talk about why she has a nicer, newer sled than me, cause I dont really know why or how)

Anyways there is no snow here yet but my plan was to ride her 2010 a bit and decide weather or not I should keep mine and upgrade it a bit (front end, shocks and skid) or sell mine and throw a couple grand down on top to get a 2010 or something.

What would you do if you already had a lightly modified low milage Rev?

Thanks,

I've ridden both, and they both perform well. I own a '06 rev X, and can hop onto a buddies '10 XP, and still get around fine, you can tell its a different sled, and has different characteristics, but they aren't necessarily "bad", Just different.

As with most of these threads, you need to try and ride both and decide for yourself. Generally for me, I can adapt to whatever i'm riding, so i buy whatever I get the best deal on, and have dealer support for nearby.
