Rev front shocks on a ZX?

Hey guys,

I need some new front shocks on my summit and was wondering if a pair of Rev shocks would work? They appear to be a couple inches taller which I would prefer. Maybe they would be too tall? Has anyone tried this?

I went with M7 (Fox) shocks!

I used some M7 shocks which were quite a bit taller. I ended up needing longer radius rods and tweaking all the front end components to make it work! I love the new stance.

perfect fit

:beer; To help answer yor question, this past week I placed my stock front shocks from my 07 XRS 159 onto the front of my 1999 Mxzx 600. They were a perfect fit. I did have to turn them upside down. My 99 had HPG. Fit and look great.

Cool thanks. It seems that a lot of the ZX chassis I see runnin around sit pretty low to the ground. I want to lift the front up a little bit without a bunch of "customizing" so to speek.

How did your rear suspension sit after the shock install? I have an expert x 144 that im going to set back to fit my 153 and haven't installed yet. Im curious as to whether I need to change all my geomitry because of the front of the rails sitting up higher?

Thanks

i put rev shocks on my 03 summit 800 works great and i got a couple inches of clearance out of them

You're gonna have to screw around with skid geometry as well, otherwise she may turn into a trenching pig! Also, if you have a Holeshot skid-plate, because that skid-plate runs under the radius rods, you might have to heat it up and bend it or trim some off of it to allow the radius rods to hang down that far....

On the Holeshot skid plate/radius rod thing, that was definetly an issue for me, broke both lower light weight radius rods because of suspension dropping out when front end was in the air. Left me on foot once and sitting on a mountainside the second time waiting for the stock rod that I had fortunately brought along in my toolbox.
I'm running both stock lower radius rods now.

How about XP shocks

Has anyone tried a set of 2008 XP HPG shocks on a '02 summit 700?

I think the eye to eye is the same but how about the spring rate?

My buddy has a set he will lend me since he has Fox now.

raise front end

all you have to do to raise the front end is swap upper shock brackets and flip them over,2inch wider radias rods and tie rods for steering.
it raisez it 2 inches and turns into a trenching hoo because the track wont sit flat with out droping the skid.
did it on an 01 summit x

the 02 and up mxz's run the same shocks as the revs so i dont see why they wouldn't fit on the summits, i run shocks from a 05 mxzx on my 01 gade they fit & work perfect

IMHO, an inch or 2 isn't gonna mess up your approach angle badly, you're gonna have some sag when you're on the sled. Longer shock will help you gaina little front end height, if you don't get carried away and have to put longer radius rods and steering arms on.
If your aoa looks too steep after playing with longer shocks, just drill a couple new mounting holes for your front skid arm and raise it up an inch or so.

Here's what my front skid mount looks like after messing around with the skid geometry over the years.
