Resprining the front

Im looking to change the springs on my front end per the recommendation of just about everyone!

Im on a KTM 12' 500 XC-W with a ST MH kit. I'm about 185-195 lbs. Im not a super agressive rider. I like the trees as much as the deep stuff. You wont find me going skyward unless i mess up! :)

Im looking on Racetech's website for new springs. My stock springs are 0.449 kg/mm
I put in the fallowing specs because every one says I need the stiffest...
Don't laugh I'm really not an AMA pro!
Riding Type: AMA Professional Supercross
Age: Standard Age - Up to 44
Skill Level: Dirt AMA Professional
Height: Standard Height
Gas Tank: Oversize Gas Tank

it spit out that I need a 0.57 kg/mm spring up front. the highest is 0.54 kg/mm is this enough or am I in the right range?

i'd suggest going with 50kg/mm springs, then use 7.5wt oil at 90-95mm. These springs will hold the bike up and the heavier and higher oil will really help bottoming.

When I upgraded my WR to .52nm springs it made a huge difference. Also like the above poster said increase the fork oil weight and possibly increase the fork oil volume. That should greatly help to keep the front end from submarining.

Most bikes are under sprung for their riders weights. Usually the KTMs are sprung for the 160 lb rider lol. I would check what proper spring force is for your weight and then maybe go up two sizes. JMO

I weight 210lbs and ride a bike (CR500) which is much lighter in the front than that KTM500. I upgraded my forks this year to CRF forks and re-sprung them with .54kg/mm springs which are the stiffest you can buy. I also used ATF for my fork oil which is supposedly 10w and the max oil capacity. That combination with the comp and rebound maxed out make for some pretty stiff forks but they feel pretty good on the snow.

I upgraded to .52 fork springs this year on my WR and it's helping to keep the front end riding higher. I'm planning on just leaving the .52 springs in for the summer too... I think they'll be fine year-round.
