Has anyone else done this? The dealer told me it can be done but its hard to do and should be done properly by tearing the whole engine down?
All that happened was a belt blew and took out the inner little dust seal around the primary side outter crank seal. Nothing is leaking or sucking air at this point so this is just procautionary.
I took it apart last night, took the metal protection plate off the crank seal. The plate comes off with the seal in it, knock the old seal out and clean the plate all up. The bearings and grease all looks great. Put new grease in the new seal, and sealed the metal protection plate as well with all the grease and sealant the dealer suggested.
The seal slides right on the crank shaft and you gentley tap the seal into place so it is nice and even and then slide the metal plate back on and evenly tighten the allen bolts back up.
The seal looks like its sits nice and even on the crank shaft. Let the grease and sealant cure over night and going to fire it up today.
Sound good or no...........advice please.
