Replacing Drivers

Need to replace my drivers @2300km. Are there any tricks to save time or special tools needed. Also, should I replace with stock drivers(approx.$100) or the avids(approx.$400 ouch)
 
The best way to do em is in an upright hydrolic or air powered shop press, thats what I always use. Its just a matter of getting a few good measurements, pressing the old ones off and the new ones on in the correct spot.

the stock yammi drivers are pretty soft and wear pretty quick, if you dont mind changin em out every 2300km or so then get em, if you plan on runnin a turbo or supercharger then avids are a must!
 
Avids are worth it. The dont need to wear in . When installing them watch out The avids are smaller on the shaft.Just make sure you use the center
line for the spaceing
 
Order them from Avid yourself, cost me just under 300cdn shipped to me by the usps/cdn post. Like you said 400+ here in Alberta. Avid has no problems shipping them to Ab.
 
Thanks for the info. Now, what about getting the drivers out of the sled. I take the suspension out, then chain case cover, then a sprocket. Is there anything else to deal with?:face-icon-small-hap
 
You have to take the speedo side below the secondary apart and there is also a ring that has 2 setscrews on the clutch side inside the tunnel on the shaft.

Once the chaincase side is disassembled, speedo side is disassembled and the set screws loosened, the shaft will drop down and slide out from the stationary bearing under the speedo ring.

Sounds kind of confusing, but it's not complicated.
 
i thought that the chaincase didn;t need to be torn apart for nytros? thought it just dropped out with some minor work.
 
If you don't I didn't know that. Looking at the manual though, it's all step by step (Drive Chain Removal, Slide Rail Suspension Removal, Secondary Sheave Removal, then Front Axle and Track Removal)

Beyond that I don't know of any secret tricks other than a saws-all or a chainsaw, but re-assembly is a monster.
