repairing nicks on WE shock

I have seen some mention of repairing nicks on air shock shafts. Is there a way to do this well. Thanks

get 1500 or 2000 grit sand paper and sand them smooth so the tip of your fingernail drags across smooth. if they are sharp they will wreck the seals

i have actually used j b weld to fill in the pits. I made sure when I was done it was perfectly smooth. Take your time, it can be repaired.
