Rentals in the Dubois/Union Pass /Togwotee area?

Hey all,
I have a buddy who wants to come out west with me this year but after finding out that the 2 places up on Union Pass that rent sleds do not offer insurance has decided that he doesn't want to take that risk and is going to bail which means I won't be able to go either... :(

Does anyone know of a rental place in this area that does offer insurance on their rentals?

Thanks,
-John

Thanks noxis. I talked With Togwotee and yes they do offer insurance but they wont let us keep the sled for 4 days straight. We are going to be staying on Union Pass and they want the sled back each/every night. :(

Any other thoughts?

Thanks,
-John

Here is the deal with rental sled insurance. It doesn't really exist and chances are your insurance will already cover it with a much lower deductible. Places that rent sleds and sell you insurance are self insuring those sleds. The deductible is usually between $1,500 and $2,000 and they charge you an extra $50 a day for the insurance. It's almost like a scam for them to make more money. Trust me you have to do a lot of damage to even meet the deductible and last year we only had one sled over $1,000 in damage his home owners insurance picked it up with a $200 deductible.

What we tell our guests before they come out is to check with the insurance providers they already have and ask them about their options. Chances are you will have much better coverage for much cheaper.

If you rent a sled from us it is yours for the duration of your stay. We don't require our sleds to be checked in until the last day of your trip.

What are your sled options and the cost per day?
Thanks

yep. rented in Cooke a few years back. huge deductible and double whammy -a cap on the coverage. You're only covered for damage between like $1500 and 5g - after that you buy it anyway. Needless to say I did not opt for the coverage. I did end up rolling it - cost me $250 for new bars and a windshield part. Insurance would have been 1/2 that anyway. No matter what on a rental, you ride with youre butt puckered worrying about a big $$ crash!! Good luck

We are renting 2013 Ski-Doo Summit 800 SP's this year. There is some talk right now of also renting Cat's but that's not a sure deal yet. Rental prices are $200 a day if you stay with us or $210 a day if you are staying elsewhere.

We got a decent shot over the weekend but it's pretty warm today a lot of it's melting at the lodge only about 6" left. Up top from here there is anywhere from 10"-20" depending on elevation. We haven't rode at all yet probably could but, it's best to wait. On the bright side the base so far is looking very solid compared to last season.
