What happens when you pack 1000 die-hard sledheads into a state-of-the-art theater, have the stage filled with newest snowmobiles and custom mods out this year, roll 2 full-length snowmobile films and play clips from other sled films on a huge screen with one of the baddest sound systems on the planet...
and do it all in one of the top resorts in the West?
You get the RENO SNOWMOBILE FILM FESTIVAL 2008 at the Grand Sierra Resort & Casino!!!
Folks, the turnout to this event was jaw-dropping. The night went off without a hitch and the vibe in the place was electric. It was a great night for the sport of snowmobiling and with the first snow falling on us Friday night...the perfect way to get the season started.
None of this would have happened if not for Jeff 'King of the Hill' Schauer...period. This guy is a marketing Jedi that brought the event together with amazing sponsor support. Thanks to Sierra Sport & Marine, Arctic Cat, Cope & McPheters and the GSR for believing in us and helping this night come to life. We are already planning next year's event with more film screenings spread out over a two-day period.
Thanks to everyone who came to Reno including the guys from Team Boondockers (Dan Gardiner, Phatty Dyer and Ryan Nelson) and from Team Thunderstruck (Dan Bush, Mark Mesenbrink and Lyle Sinden).
The raffle raised over $3000 for the Blair Morgan Foundation and the California/Nevada Snowmobile Association. A huge thanks to the people that donated the prizes that made the raffle possible: 509 Films, Thunderstruck Films, Hellclimber Films, HMK, FLY, RSI, Arctic Cat, West Coast Sleds, FOX, Slydog Skis, B-Wear Vests and CalStar.
I've put some pics up from the show...enjoy...and we'll see you in Puyallup this weekend!
