removing the air box

I need some help, How and what do you have to do to remove the air box on the side panel of a 07 800r summitx. And what do you do with tube that runs into the bottom of it.

Take the screws out. Just be sure to put it back on before you ride. ;)

Thanks, I was thinking about removing it all together and putting cones on the carbs but I think I will just leave it the way it is Thanks.

Ive heard people running pre-filters on the 07 800Rs put they said the sled ran better with the stock airbox..

i will take a picture of my sled tommorow and show you the intake i run , the sled can run completely submerged and not miss a beat , the duration it is completely under the snow is major . we run in some areas all day and the intake doesnt get much of a break. worked hard to finally find a way to get it to run this way.

your on the right track by getting rid of the air box on the door panel .
now you make a steel nipple to slide into the hole in the stock air box on the carbs.
attach to this nipple a 3 inch diameter aluminium dryer vent , the heavy guage stuff , you will need 4 ft of it .
now you snake this tube forward over top of the belt guard and head for the guage hole on the right side of the dash. bring the tube out this hole .

here i made a 5 inch flange with a 2 3/4 inch nipple on the out side and a 3 inch nipple on the inside .
the hose attaches to the 3 inch nipple and the out side nipple i put a 180 degree bend tube , pointed forward over the dash and attached a k/n filter with a skin on it .

nothing sticks to it as it is out in free air and away from any heat at all .

pic is worth a thousand words
not real expensive to do
k/n filter apx 40.00
..... skin 30.00
alum hose 15.00
steel nipple was 2 3/4 exhaust tube 1.00

dash plate with nipples and bend tube on it i made
same ex tube for the bend , couple bucks , cut on 30 degree angles and welded together to get the bend i wanted , 3 pieces

obviously this wont be for every one .

What about another option iwas thinking about Al. I was thinking of cutting a second hole on the airbox on the side pannel and putting a small tube from that to the dash just for a secondary air vent, so in the pow it has a backup source when that one has clogged.

Im just worried about putting to much air in the motor. I've heard the primary airbox has flowrite material though, so you can do what ever you want as long as you keep the primary airbox, and have sufficient flow?
