Removing tank

Putting in a new heat exchanger and have to remove tank. Should I remove the fuel pump from the tank? Don't want to break anything. How do I remove the red elbow pictured? Or should I just lift it and swing it all out of the way attached?

In the picture on the left with the red elbow, you can just take a flat blade screw driver and stick in in the clamp and pry the clamp open and slide the fuel line off the fitting. You just use a sidecutter to clamp it back on.

On the right side you just depress the tab on the bottom of the fuel line fitting and the clip will come off the barbed inlet. To re-install you just push it on.

On the four stroke you have to unhook the battery.

Other than that, it will come right off. You can leave the pump in the tank.

The vent hose just pulls out and unplugging the fuel pump is easy, just be carefull u don't break the clip that retains the fuel pressure line, if you do break it a wire tie can replace it. Its all pretty simple. I had to replace my heat exchanger last year after an unfortunate creek incident. LOL

3/16 worked should I be draining my coolant first or just be ready with something to if the hose?

This bolt is making life hell. Did you have to remove your jack shaft and the mount?ImageUploadedByTapatalk1351877763.641627.jpg. The cooler has placement flanges at the front an I can't slide this bolt out the back side because the mount for the jack shaft is in the way.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1351877848.197467.jpg

I ended up having to remove the two jack shaft mount ( If that's what it's called) bolts that tie into the block so that I could pull the jack shaft and mount out of the way to remove the last bolt. The bolt I am referring to was in the hole to the right of the punch. Anyways it's out! Hope the new cooler goes in easier than the old one came out ! Things are almost always easier to take apart than they are to put back together. Sorry to say.
