Removing reverse and DD on '08-M1000??

Is there any other way besides spending $850 through BDX for the lite DD? I know these stock DD's were a big issue on the '08-M1000's so I would like to eliminate any potential problem. Don't use reverse anyways, but is the problem mainly related to reverse or weak stock gears? What's the best fix?

the problem is with the reverse, not the stock gears (though they aren't great). and no, i don't think there is another way. The DD lite really drops the rotating mass out the reverse case which is really noticable.

You can get an 09 DD and replace the gears with a BDX gear set. You can buy just the empty 09 case for about $100 and then build it with the BDX non reverse gears. You can order all the parts individually for the inside so you can get the OEM seals and bearings and just use BDX gears. It's heaver than the BDX drive and uses 5 times the oil but you can keep the stock drive shaft and drivers.
