Removing hood vent

Has anyone tried removing there hood vent on the clutch side and had any luck? Probably let to much snow in but as you know in the deep pow you can't keep them clear and that part of the reason of a hot clutch.

i wouldn't run w/o em...i replaced the vent w/ mesh.. works well.

but i'm anal about having piles of snow under the pipe/hood etc...i've meshed off every gap/opening there is in place of the stock 'vents/screens'..
