Removing front track cooler

Has anyone ever removed there front track cooler? Wondering how hard of a job it is and what all is required to do it? basically I know I would have to by the dragon coolant hoses and bottle. As well as the plastic cover to go where the cooler used to be.

Pull motor,

Pull skid

Pull track/driveshaft

Remove the hoses.

Drill out the rivets holding it in .

Convert the head over to the new style thermostat.

I pulled mine out w/o removing the motor or skid, but it was a pita.

Why people remove that cooler? Is it for weight saving?

If you decide to remove it, I would be intersted in buying the cooler, hoses, and surge tank, or trade for my block off plate and surge tank, I don't think you would need the head, just put a pipe plug where the hose is, that is what the service manual shows, let me know, thanks.
