Removing decals from the hood...

Anyone got some good tips on the easiest way to remove the stock decals from the hood? I didn't want to go at it with a heat gun if there are better ways with lesa chance og damaging the plastic and paint...

I'm going to put some vents in my side panels which will ruin the dragon decals so I'd like to remove everything and go for a clean black look with white framed vents...

I have used a hair dryer for years to remove decals. Apply just enough heat to warm the plastic wich helps the glue realease and usually will not leave any glue residue on the plastic. If you get the decal to warm it will tear but you can restart on another edge. The hair dryer does not put out enough heat to damage plastic or paint. Good luck.

I've only used heatguns from work before and those get chit too hot. Never thought of stealing the wifes hairdryer! Thanks for the tip.

Be careful when stealing the wife's hair dryer! I did that the first time and got the question put to me what is more important to look good your sled or me! That is one of those questions that is tuff to answer honestly with out getting your self in trouble. :) so I went out and bought a new one and took the old one! I use it frequently, I hate all those damm stickers!

I also used the wife's hairdryer and a plastic putty knife or credit card to peel back the sticker.Goo Be Gone or a little WD-40 works for sticker residue.

I bought the damn dryer in the first place when she fried her old one, so I'd say its safe to "steal" it :P

besides, I could just say she don't need the dryer to look pretty, thats what the BEER is for :D

the glue..

wax and grease remover is also a great product to remove the remaining adhesive...at the parts store it goes under the name ' bug and tar remover ' same stuff though

Then clean and wax/protect hood after peeling stickers especially in area of sticker removal and you should be good ,
