removing a rounded off pilot jet

Allright, I bought a used set of carbs that were supposed to be in "good" condition. The jets are corroded and basically welded to the body. I've got it soaking in some cleaner but the pilots are basically rounded off and there's no way to get on them with a screwdriver. Anyone have a trick to getting them out or is it junk???

Edit: Mikuni rack carbs.

I don't suppose you know what thread size those are? So if I do get into it with the bit I can clean it up. I imagine it's a pipe thread???

Dont know, I never hit the threads. Use a small bit and a small extractor. I had to order an extra small one.

You will need a #1 "easy out" and the appropriate drill required is etched on the side of the easy out.

foam

Soak the entire body in sea foam over night. Supposed to come out like brand new from what I hear

I highly doubt they are pipe thread. I would bet more of a straight machine thread. But like others have said try an easy out. If that doesn't work you might have to go to drilling it out and chasing the threads.

Get a new set of pilots so you can match the threads on the pilot before you get to excited with a drill and tap in the carb.

Im also fairly certain its a machine thread and not a pipe thread.

soak the crap out of it in some good penetrating material, or something else. that should really help you out.

as for a pilot, I broke my pilot jet off inside it one time.. i took a very small tiped flathead screwdriver, pounded into the brass, and backed it out. worked awsome.

a small amount of heat carefully applied can do wonders for getting them unwelded from the card bady! sometimes assisted carefully with an manual impact driver!!! and oh yeah!!!!! Pray alot!!!! if that don't work~~~ More beer!!!
