Remove E-start 2006 800 Summit X

I bought a used 2006 800 Summit X with e-start. I don't have any need for the e-start. What do I need to do to eliminate the e-start. I looked on ski-doo's website and there looks like there is a bypass harness that I need. Looking for some input from guys who have done it.

One last question. The gear on the back of primary. If I take that off do I need to have the clutch rebalanced?
 
Let me know if you want to sell it when you get it off. A buddy of mine wants to add it to his summit. Just leave the ring gear on the clutch.

yep, i'd leave the ring gear too...and the e start for that matter...just get a lt wt battery.

but, leave the ring gear. not worth the potential hp gain for the dampening it does.
 
I will leave the ring gear. Is the new harness just a bypass to the lights and box will run off the coil instead of the coil charging the battery and the battery powering the electrical components.
 
I TOOK MY E-START OFF MINE, PUT IT BACK ON, TOO MUCH PULLING TO GET IT STARTED AFTER IT WENT OVER. I GOT A LIGHT WEIGHT YAMAHA BATTERY FROM MOUNTAIN MACHINES. SOMETHING LIKE 3lbs. NOT AS MUCH START TORQUE BUT IT STARTS. I NOTICED NO HUGE DIFFERENCE IN THE WEIGHT WITH THE E-START INSTALLED OR OUT.
 
yes it is a bypass. it plugs in under the dash. you can get one from your local skidoo dealer. I took my ring gear off and everything. saves 22 lbs. the ring gear came loose and the vibration wiped out my clutch and i had to have it rebuilt. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but i wouldnt have electric start again.
