Remote Triggered ABS Bag

Pretty cool technology for sure. It is available on a very limited basis this year, mainly for heli-ski guides. In speaking with ABS a couple months ago, they hope to have it available for purchase on a broader basis next year.

I do realize the seriousnesses of the situation, but I think it would be a HUGE temptation to set your buddy's avy bag off while he's cruising through a meadow as a practical joke..... then you're effed.

I like this as a warninging system. I have seen alot of videos where the guys at the bottom see it coming and the rider has not become aware of the situation. A couple of extra seconds and he might be able to ride out of the way.

One another note. If your buddies think it is funny to mess with a guy's safety gear, I would suggest different riding buddies. You need your sh_t wired tight when riding in avalanche country. Riding with imature dolts is not recommended.

so - if your riding with several peple in your group, and all have this abs system, does remotely triggering to help one in an avy set off ALL members of the group? seems that might be a big problem & inconvienience???

Aahhh, come on Karl....you gotta admit it would be funny as hell to deploy your buddy's avy bag as you were headed down to the parking lot at the end of the day when you're about 100 yds from the truck! It'd scare the chit outta of him.....hahahaha. :D

Gee, do ya think they would have thought of that?????

i dont know. do you??? do you have any useful, helpful information to add, or just stupid smart@ss comments??

say they trigger by means of a radio signal. each trigger could have a unique frequency. how do you determine which bag or bags activates on a certain trigger signal? how do you know when you leave the truck in the morning who is going to be in an avy? if you pick wrong, do you set off the bag of someone sitting on their sled watching?

lots of unknowns, unanswered questions, possibilities. in order to assure you set off the bag of the person in trouble, you pretty much have to set off all of them, the way i see it. so, i was simply asking for more information. further clarification of this new technology.

thanks.

No, pretty much just smart a$$ comments brought about by stupid questions and comments by others. Do you really think they are going to bring a product like you describe, to market? Come on man, give them some credit.

Flange, if you don't know, just say so. I think he has some good questions that should be answered. If you can't answer, then you have no say.

It sounds like a good idea, not sure it will be a big seller.
