releasing track tension?

i need to release the track tension and/or remove the rear wheels in order to replace the hyfax

on the Yeti, am i supposed to remove/release the rear shock in order to release the track tension?
or is there some simpler way i'm not seeing?

i would have expected to remove the rear axle to relieve the rear wheel, but it looks like the rear axle doesn't come out that way.
