Just wondering what everyone is using for reeds. I have a TSS kit and they recommend just the stock reeds. Mine have a few miles on them and just looking to replace them as preventative maintenance. Is there anything other than the stockers that a guy should look at? Should I worry about changing them? Sled runs fine, but wouldnt mind a little more snap. 5300km on reeds, with about 1000 on boost.

And can anyone confirm whether you need four of them, or do they come as a set of two?

Had 3 different skidoo dealers tell me that the stock reeds are only available as part of the reed block assembly. need 4 ea. @ $78 ish a piece. I bought turbo reeds from turboperformance.

Seriously? 1 response. Thanks for the feedback tinman. This forum is really starting to blow.

I had 1200 boosted miles on the Turbo reeds from Turbo Performance and they looked like new. I had planned on replacing them but after inspecting them they looked so I good I reinstalled them. I am sure Bryce or Josh could hook you up.

Boyesen

I use Boyesen Turbo reed pedals from Turboboyz with 1/3 of the factory reed over them to keep the pedals from wearing/chipping on the ends under boost. I've Never had a problem running them this way. Prior to running this setup my reeds would wear at the end/tip.

call TSS, im sure they have some really good input regarding how to deal with it.

Stockers work pretty good, I know through aero you can get some "race reeds"

I talked to TSS today. Just thought I would post first to see if anyone knew before taking up more of Dave's time. (super nice guy btw). He said by far his number 1 choice is the stock reeds. Says they work the best because they keep the nice crisp throttle response. Anything heavier duty he said they really gave up response. In over 100 kits in the last two years he said they have only replaced reeds in 6 sleds and every time was because the owner upped the fuel and caused a rich backfire. He said if you dont backfire them they will last forever.

The stock doo reeds are expensive though. From what I can gather you have to buy the whole reed block x 4. Was looking for feedback to see if a guy could just get petals that would work the same. After talking to Dave though I think Ill just bite the bullet and get stockers.

I've heard good things about the boyessen reeds, i went through two sets of stock on my set up in less than 300 miles. Going with the boyessen now

reeds

I have been double stacking stock reeds for the last 4 years. This has worked very well. Rich pops, back fires and rev limiters kill reeds!!! If your going through reeds that fast i would guess the tune of your set up isnt quite there.

I want to test a set of the 600 reeds in the 800's. I think the boot and everything is the same, but the 600's have just a single "v" with the stamped steel cages outside for support. Mine has been through tons of backfires and rev limits and only had 1 tiny chipped corner. Also less petals to change when the time comes as well.

I really like the idea of having the cages built into the boot, this way its a nice smooth surface the petals are opening into and less prone to wear due to rattling into one another and the castings in the case.

We have been using them since 05 in all doo turbo 800s. shhh.. boot holds up better too. either those or cat f series cages have been what I use to fix all the pinball flipper imploded cages from lean back fires.. too bad so many of them have now split the rods too.. the old series 3 twin was built much better..

I have reed in stock. they work the best with the longest life. I have to put a little mod on them brfore they leave here. but they work very very well.

600 will work also. you will just have to buy a set of boot stuffers. I have them also.

Turbo performance. your one stop shop! lol I had to put that in.
