Reed questions naturally aspirated M8

I have a 2008 M8. I have a SLP full pipe setup, and SLP intake. All else is stock. Most of my riding is done at 1000 ft. but I do spend 2 weeks in the mountains in the winter. Has anyone tried stock vs. aftermarket reeds with this setup and seen any gains? I see that SLP has a package that includes v force 3 reeds, but I have also seen alot of talk saying aftermarket reeds are a great way to waste money of the M8. Finally what brand would you recommend. Thanks in advance! I am hoping someone has run this setup with both stock and aftermarket reeds and has actually compared.

I don't know on a m8 but I'll through this out there. I have a friend that did v force on a m1000 and couldn't tell for sure if there was a differance, maybe though. not really worth the money in my opinion.

I have tried them on several different machines and there isn't enough difference to justify the cost of Vforce reeds. The petals on the vforce tend to wear out fairly quickly compared to the factory reed petals.

I wondered the same thing. I read and read and it sounded to me like reeds really aren't the best bang for the buck for the M8.

Those that did try and like reeds seemed to like the Boysen Rage Cage the best if I remember correctly.

I bought the SLP Performance Edition kit this summer and since V Force reeds are part of their kit, I asked the SLP technicians what the deal was with no one liking aftermarket reeds on M8s?

I remember them specifically telling me that they rountinely see at least a 5hp gain on their dyno with V force reeds installed vs. stock reeds. So I asked if they had tried the Boysen rage Cage and he said they hadn't in a few years. They did a bunch of testing a few years ago and V Force made more power so they have just stuck with V Force to eliminate a variable.

I figured that since they were part of the SLP package and their fuel controller was coming pre-programed for using them, that I would go ahead and buy a set. I found a new set of New V Force reeds on E bay through Cat Coutry(?) for $199.00 so I saved $60 off the retail price on them.

I guess I'll get a chance to find out.

you can buy a set of boyseen reeds that will fit your stock reed cages for about $75...
