Red turbo

How hot should a turbo run? JUst was out breaking in a belt. Got stuck And noticed that the turbo was cherry red. I know this is not right. But where do I start?

Only hop ups I have done is Evo blow off and turbo Dynamics Silencer.

So I went out and checked everything and I cannot find the problem. Hose routing is correct for the BOV. My only question is would here be a possibility that the check valve that is installed from Evolution is bad or in backwards.

pull the oil line off the feed side of the turbo(Make sure its getting oil), also what afrs are you running? Sounds lean, but on my truck if i run it hard(boosted gas) the manifold, and exhaust housing got red hot but it cooled down.

The A/F is bouncing around between 12 to 14. I Squeezed it once and it went up in to the 15's. Now I am just going slow to break in a new belt. And was going less than 30 mph.

Under boost you should be at 12.5 at highest, under throttle out of boost should be in the 14s.

Fairly a cherry red turbo is common if your running it hard at all.

I guess I must be worried for nothing. It was red up to the three bolt flange where the muffler bolts on. I guess it was under load in about two feet of fresh drifted snow.

About as red as a 12 volt cigarette lighter would be. If I was a smoker I wouldn't of needed a lighter for a smoke.

I never rode my 11t at night last year but I am pretty sure that glowing red is something you will not see during the day. I used to have a vector turbo and the header, turbo and downpipe would all glow at night but could not tell at all during the day. If you have a question over it take it to the dealer you likely have warranty still?

my turbo glows red at night as well. it is a common thing. I would not worry about it. I was at first but I ride with some yammi's with turbo's and they all glow as well. Cant see it at all during the day though.

Scared the hell outta me last year on the maiden voyage but it was at night. Don't worry about it buy a blanket from EVO and ride her hard!!!!

I've heard guys say this about stock 11t's as well... must be more normal that I had thought.
