Went for a ride last night on my 2004 vert edge 800.Stop shut down and went to restart but there wasn't anything.So kept feeding the cord in and out then finally it grab.So can someone explain to me whats happening here and how to repair this issue.

I've got a 2004 600 RMK that will do the same thing. There is a single "dawg" that pops out when the starter is turned by pulling the rope. Theory has it that the assembly is greased with a heavy grease which sticks and won't allow the dawg to pop out. Take it apart and clean it to make sure there isn't anything worn and to clean up the excess grease. I think I got mine almost totally grease-free before it would quit sticking. Wife's sled, so I hear about it when it sticks and won't start!

Ok Ill take it apart again. I just had it off because I was checking my water pump belt and I notice then I guess its the dawg it look pretty worn.All the same today I pull over the sled three times today without a miss.Thanks all the same
