Recoil help. knot came undone, how do I rewind it?

I've got an 04 Rev and the knot came undone on the pull rope. I pulled off the recoil but I can't seem to get any tension. Is there a trick I'm missing? Thanks.

If you turn the recoil and get no tension, The trick is to buy a new recoil! The innards of the recoil that holds the spring is plastic, so the spring comes off it quite easy. Taking it apart can end up in a spring flying across the shop, and a royal pain to get it back in....My 04 did the same thing, the good news is that most ski-doo dealers have about 10 recoils in stock.. its quite a common problem

Take it out and rewind it. its not hard. After rewinding it go the the hardware store and get a machine screw. Drill hole down the center of clutch and put fender washeres and a nylock nut on. That way you guaranteed not to have it come apart after disassembly.


If the spring didn't come off the hooks you can just wind it back up and try to get the rope out the hole.
