Recoil cord go oops

Was Summerizing my 900 fusion , fogged then gave a shot in cylinders then plugs in and pulled a few times and knot popped off handle....

Do you have to pull motor to replace that recoil ?

After i got done curs'ing, i noticed the plastic shell body of the fusion that the rope goes thru is worn where the rope rubs on it from being pulled,, im sure soon a groove will be in that plastic rather than a hole for the rope to go into... Is there supose to be a metal fish eye for the rope to wear on rather than the plastic ? Wondering if there was, mine is gone. I see a couple small holes by it, like there is supose to be somthing there....

Thx

no you not have to pull the motor, just take off the can and remove the allen head bolts holding the recoil housing on, there will be one bolt that is a pain in the a$$ to get out, try using ball head allen wrenches for that one. Do not pry up on the motor, this will ruin the mounts. Leave the 1 pita bolt out when you put the housing back on, this is a usefull tip commonly used.

Also, be careful when you get the housing off and take out the single bolt on the recoil, if you pull the round black piece the rope is wrapped on you will pull the spring out and its a beehotc to get back in. Carefull turn the round black piece the opposite way to release it from the spring then you can remov it and feed the rope back through.

hope this helps

5248563Bracket, Rope Guide 1

I see there is a rope guide,, answered my question..

But do i have access to remove this pull cord assembly ??? Reason i ask is i heard poeple saying they leave the bottom two bolts off when replacing for easy removal...
Removal/ engine removal to access ?????

that is correct, you do not have to remove the engine. The two bolts that get left out are on the housing for the recoil assembly, not engine mounts, just incase this ever happens again it makes the job easier. just take off the exhaust can and you should have plenty of acces to fix the rope.
