Exactly.
But if it's still R12, you will need to have it converted over to R134.
Either that, or cash in your 401K so you can afford enough R12 to fill it.;)

o contre ....if it needs rechargin it already puked the contents out into the ozone ..now you need to seal the leak and stuff in 134

If it's empty-True
If it's low-False
134 & 12 not compatible.

does your compressor get cold ..at all ??

if it just stays hot then its empty ....refer to my prvious post

if the compressor and lines get cold then you still have refridgerant in it ..but I am assuming that it is empty thats why you have no ac and are lookin for a fix

been there done that and bought the t-shirt

if the compressor doesn't kick in then the low pressure switch doesn't have enough pressure to switch, check the shrader valve by the heater core if there is pressure there then evac and recharge, if no pressure and it is that old, replace hoses and check for other leaks then recharge with r-134

Ain't much you don't know, is there?

Take a pen and push on on of the schraeder valves on a service port and check for pressure like on a tire. If there's pressure-let it out (I didn't say that). Then, you'll need a couple adapters for the service ports to recharge it as 12 and 134 connectors are different. Most retrofit kits come complete with what you'll need. Only thing you don't know is if you have any leaks and if so how bad. You could do the H2 snow way and have cold air for 15 minutes. Should replace the high pressure cutout switch as they operate at different pressures but you can get by. My 2 cents-have someone evac it, pull vacuum to check for major leaks and if it's good recharge it with the correct amount as 134 amounts are 80% less than what 12 took. It shouldn't run you more than 125-150.

gee what is this a 12 step program ..buy the kit read the instructions....switchy not get any tail this weekend

roll the windows down and don't stop moving

If it has r12 the service ports well be the size of a tire stem. If its r134 then the ports well be twice the size. You can still do r12 but very expensive unless you have a friend in the auto repair that gets the r12 from the wrecking yard from recycled cars.
