Recalls Installed ?

positive is getting harder

Well, I was initially led to believe that the fix would come this week, but was just informed that that ain't happenin'.

But here's the cool part, the dealer was told that it would be 5-7 days shipping. Basic ground frieght, really Polaris? How about shove my free can of oil up yer butt and put my collar on an airplane ??

And the beautiful Irony: the UPS drivers are going to be held up by....... wait for it............. Snow.

Order a happy face pro collar, throw it on and ride. When the poo ones come in, put it on the other end of the driveshaft for piece of mind. Problem solved!

Yeah I hear ya, wish I would of done that before this storm rolled in !

Polaris collar will be on tomorrow, riding on Sunday. I have seen the collar in person. It isn't anything special but it will do the trick I am sure. It is machined aluminum with two good size Allen bolts (one each side obviously). Mine was part of an early shipment, possibly air freight or in someone's suitcase for all I know. Ground shipment expected Tuesday in our part of the world. I am pleased that I will have one on the sled but I would have rode it either way this weekend. I bet that some people will ride all winter without getting the collar and have no problems. However, I would rather be safe than sorry.

Why doesn't Polaris call you and say we want xxxxxx many and be done with it.

My dealer in Idaho Falls put mine on yesterday. Said she got 25 on a early shipment and lots more expected next week. Should take care of the problem I would guess.

TXstar...

Post up some good pics of the one on your sled!!

Got the dealer call yesterday, dropped it off this morning. Was really quick, just a little over half an hour for inspection and collar install. Taking her out for first ride of the season tomorrow (thanks to the pitiful snow up here so far).

Doesn't look much different than the several collars many aftermarket guys have come up with. Wish it was more like the Happy Face collar, especially if installed with adhesive, but it provides some peace of mind for now.

Thanks for posting pictures.
I take it the stock driveshaft was "ok" and passed the test?
Did you have any miles on the sled without the collar?

Thanks again for the pictures.

Yes, the drive shaft "passed" inspection. What they are primarily looking for is any gap between the end cap and edge of the extrusion indicating the end cap was not properly seated. They didn't remove the shaft to conduct any exhaustive inspection or tests, just visual inspection of the end cap/extrusion seam and general condition of the overall shaft. Collar install was pretty straight forward. Scrape off excess glue and remove the part sticker, clean the collar area, collar and screw install with loctite, snug the screws maintaining consistent gap between the collar sections, position and align the collar with the edge of the extrusion, then torque the collar screws to spec.

No miles on mine before collar install (just 0.7 total on the odometer from putting around the shop recently). We've had a terrible start to our winter up here in AK, but some recent snow should make tomorrow's first ride good enough for break-in.
