Rebuilding the starter recoil??

Recoil decided to eat itself up yesterday. When we took it off only the DOUILLE *SLEEVE-STAGE (part #10 on the parts fiche) and the BARRURE *LOCKING DEVICE (#13) seem to be ruined. There are some scuffs and really small nicks on the other plastics but i dont think they need to be replaced. Just wondering if its ok to just replace the parts or is it smarter to just get the whole new assembly and keep this one for parts if something happens again.

Just get a whole new one..........TRUST ME.
I bought the rebuild kit and new rope. 25 bucks. Made it 3 rides and the snap ring came off and it all got melted. This was on a recoil with 3800 miles on it. It's the center post on the outter housing, that groove gets worn and you have to replace.

i just did it both ways but mine didnt even git on the traller put the new kit on for 165.00 havent had any problems

Spend the extra money and buy a new recoil, "learn from the mistakes of others, you will not live long enough to make them all yourself"

Another option is to pick up one of my aftermarket kits made specifically for the off trail heat issues that plague the OEM recoils.
