rebuilding engine 05 rev, need some advice

Just about to start rebuilding the engine on a friends 05 rev 800 summit with about 4000km's on it. We have new pistons and gaskets but someone was saying we should do the bottom end as well? The engine is fine and the compression is within spec. Should we do the bottom end as well? Obviously once it is apart and we are putting in the new pistons we will look at the crank bearings...
thanks

You might wanna check the bearings and seals. I had the same motor and it burnt down due to a bad crank seal. Just got it back from the shop.

As long as your that far into it...the pto bearings use grease...wouldent hurt to repack em. Dino

as long as your tearing the motor down, the little extra it takes for the bottom end will give you peace of mind and better reliability

Rebuild

4000 KM, 2400 miles - I would think just freshening the top end would be good to go unless something else has failed.

I agree with Eddy, with only 2400 mi I would check the seals and the run out on the PTO side bearing.
