Rebuild question

I Am Putting some spi pistons on my rev and when i took they cylinders off a bunch of antifreeze got into the bottom of the crank case. Is there an easy way to remove it? or will it not harm anything and just blow out.

Get it out, if you leave it in it will start to rust and leave deposits on the crank. If you can use a shop paper towell and soak up the oil and the coolant. Try to get it bone dry in the bottom of the cases, then replace the oil in the case as DOO specs. I hope you have the motor out? Maybe its just me but I always pull the motor out even for a top end so I can check the rod end play and take a good look at the motor sitting on the bench, its easier to notice problems. It could be worse take a look

It just had a brand new motor put in it during the summer. it just was running a little lean and sezed up a little. so i didnt pull the motor. and i heard the best thing to do is to tip the sled up side down for a while. will tha work?

i set it upside down and took the air nozzle from the compressor to it good and got it all out. thanks for the info. ill keep that in mind for next time! :face-icon-small-hap

if your not reassembling right away make sure you fog or coat the inside of the case and the cylinders with oil you would be amazed in the right environment how fast things can start to corrode
a shopvac with the smallest nozzle will work great at getting liquid out
of the bottom end also :beer;

Hows the riding in MT? I lived in Missoula for 6 years and skied all over Lolo pass and the bitteroots but I never owned a sled while I was there. Now I live in Alaska and couldn't imagine not have one with these mountains here.

I always use a paper towel pushed into the crank area, rope the motor over. Then I pour oil in the crank area, fogging oil work good too. The anti-freeze will kill bearings if left in for any time (couple of days). An hour or two will not kill it. We have left a race motor go over night while waiting for a replated jug.

I did get it all out tiping the sled upside down, but i didnt think of fogging it. makes sence. and how do you get all the needles to stay put whild trying to get the wrist pin in?

next time, a chunck of fuel hose stuffed in the end of your shop vac, use some duct tape to seal the hose to your vac. The feul hose works great cause u can bend it and get it stuffed into all the tight corners.

Once you have all the rollers in place with the grease, use a short 14 mm socket to hold them in place while you slide the piston in place. Push the socket out the other side with the pin.

Good point. That's what I'd do next time. I didn't really take time to read about it before I did it. It was all back together before I thought about my options.
